I'm LITERALLY a 5 Year Old

I went to a children's museum yesterday without any children.....
I know that makes me sound super creepy but I swear it was for educational purposes.
My FYS class went to the Winston-Salem Children's museum because we are studying museums!

Honestly I looked like I was having more fun than some of the kids who were there.
It was just fun to be a kid again!
The crochet crazy huge thing was actually a jungle gym kind of climby thing and because I am crazy, I actually climbed it! It was great! I'm insane but it was so fun!!
I honestly wanted to stay longer and play, but we had to get back.
I was just laughing and having a great time!
It brought back so many memories of my favorite kids museum back home! My brother and I loved it so much my mom bought a membership because we would literally go once a week when we were little.

I got a lot of work done last night at the library and got a really good's night sleep! But it was so weird because my roommate wasn't in the room when I went to sleep and it just felt very unsettling. I don't know, that probably sounds weird but were like sisters!

Ashley is happier now that I am wearing dark denim and slowly transitioning into wearing fall clothes. lol
I was even going to wear my Tory Burch flats yesterday with this outfit, which I think would look so cute too, but I am still holding onto the warm weather!
I am very slowlyyyyyyy transitioning.
My shirt is more fall appropriate because of the dark pink color and the high neck and so are the jeans! But the shoes make it still summery!!
But I can't help wanting to wear fun shorts and colors still because I see all this cute "street style" or I should say "sidewalk style" of cute summery clothes on my classmates!
I am so conflicted!! AHHHHH

It took Ashley and I forever to find a cute spot to take these pictures! Our campus is pretty big but yet feels so small! We feel like we are running out of places to take pictures, but I just think we need to think outside the box and be more creative, or just walk more to upper campus for some pretty spots.
So stay tuned to see where else we can take blog pics!

12,922 Steps and 39 Flights of Stairs

I walked 12,922 steps, 39 flights of stairs and 5.7 miles yesterday.
And my parents want to know why I am so skinny!
I don't understand how it is possible to get the freshman 15 or what my brother likes to say the "Freshman 50."
I walk so much here on campus!
My campus really isn't that big but boy do I walk a lot! I am on the third floor of my residence hall and I make all my friends take the stairs. And also I like to study on floor 4 or 6 of the library. And yes, there is an elevator but there is no reason why you can't take the stairs! It's good for you!!

So back to the drama in math class.
Did you guys read my blog post from yesterday about my crazy math class? If not go read it HERE, it's a really funny story!
So yesterday morning we were at breakfast, I was eating my peanut butter toast when the two girls that put their stuff in my and joe's seats sprinted into the dining hall. They were rushing like crazy to get their food and eat.
This time they had their bags with them.
And of course, as we were leaving they were still eating.
So obviously my teacher is really fed up with those girls coming in late, and she was so fed up that she rewarded everyone who was on time or early and gave us bonus points!
So ha!
The girls were rushing at breakfast but then they never came to math class! It was so weird! Like why would you get up that early to not come to math class.
It was weird.

I had pilates in the afternoon with Kristin. I got a really good leg and ab workout!
Lol, and my teacher who is really sassy and fierce came up to me after class and told me that she was starring at me when we were doing some yoga stretches, because she was looking at how long my eyelashes were. She then asked the common question, if they are real. And then I always answer yes, it's just Maybelline the Rocket mascara! This is my holy grail mascara!
It lengthens and gives great volume. I even got my mom hooked on it! It's honestly the best!
My mascara is always the last makeup item that I put on and take off at night. I put it on last so my powders don't get on my lashes and I take it off last because I still look put together if I take off my face makeup and just leave it on!
And that's exactly what I did last night. I showered, left my mascara on and went to the WFU Style meeting. I really wanted to wear sweats but I decided I should probably look fashionable considering I have a blog and want to represent it well, as well as I want to work for our school's fashion blog!

I promised Ashley I would start wearing more fall clothes like clothes after yesterday....
I am trying very hard to put away the bright colors and the white jeans and wear my fall appropriate clothes, because it is almost October. But at the same time it is still warm here!!
But we will see how long that lasts because I have lots more cute summery/warm outfits to wear!

Attendance isn't Required.....

So unlike high school, in college attendance isn't required.
No one is taking attendance and if you are late to class you don't get marked as late, or in my high school now a mark towards detention...
Sorry guys!
But college is so different than high school in other aspects too, but I will get more into that once I've been here for over a month....
So relating back to attendance and tardiness, yesterday morning I had a crazy math class.
I get breakfast at 7:30 with the guys in my math class and then at 7:55ish we walk over to class.
Everyday for the past month these two girls have walked into math class late....
And I'm not talking like right on time or 2 minutes or like here and there occasionally late, but like every day 10-15 minutes late.
It's obnoxious!
They disrupt the whole class and it's just rude.
So my friend Joe, not Joe from back home, (hey Joe! Miss you!!) another Joe and I sit next to each other in class. And everyday when these girls walk in late we look at the clock and then at each other and give each other the "look," and of course glance in their direction. Not only do we think it is extremely rude and disrespectful, but we can tell that for the past month our teacher has been getting really aggravated as well.
So yesterday at breakfast we saw the girls. We never see them at breakfast. So we were a little surprised by that. And as we were leaving breakfast they were just kind of starting to eat. But we weren't really that surprised that they would be late to math.
So we walked into class yesterday and guess who's bags were in Joe's and my seats?
The girls...
I was shocked. I thought it was hysterical that they put their bags in our seats, so they could come into class looking like they were in the bathroom or whatever.
And not for nothing, but these girls sit on the other side of the classroom from us so like they were probably trying to make a statement or something to Joe and I.
So Joe because he is sassy, moved the bags to the other side of the room away from our seats.
So by this time the class was getting full and we established with the class that no one knew who's bags they were and where they were originally placed. The whole class agreed to play dumb and it was great.
So our teacher walks in, we're all hysterically laughing and it was just great.
At 8:10 we look at the clock, the girls still weren't there. At 8:15 am the girls finally show up! It was a new tardiness record for them.
So they walked in and stopped at the door, looking very confused. They saw that Joe and I were in the seats that they claimed (even though everyone sits in the same seat everyday), so really OUR seats and go sit in their original seats.
When they walked in I couldn't look at them. I hate confrontation so I just tried to ignore it.
Joe and the rest of the class starred right at them and had the biggest smiles on their faces, everyone was giddy with the drama.
So finally at the end of class, the girls came up to my friend that sits on the end next to me and asked if he saw her bag. He replied that he didn't see it but it must be somewhere in the room.
Joe and I ran out of there before they could ask us.
That was probably the best math class of all time (sorry Jack!)!
That class just made my day!
It was so funny!

The rest of my day wasn't so funny :(
I had a 9 page French test which actually wasn't that bad, but didn't allow me to watch the Presidential Debate because I was studying for it. But oh well, there will be more!
And I had my FYS, which is still really boring. We started doing lecture presentations and they are just so dull and bland. The topics and readings are so redundant and repetitive, that I want to die from boredom.
But it's fine. I don't really get graded on it. It's pretty much a participation class. If you participate and hand in all the work (it's a lot of work) you will get full credit. So I guess that's kind of nice.
But still, I would rather be sleeping!

Can you tell by my outfit that I am slowly transitioning into fall??
Key word: Slowly.
In the morning I had on my pink rain boots because it was drizzling and there were lots of puddles from the night before.
But I am still rocking my white jeans!
But my shirt is more fall colors, ya see! And this shirt doesn't go with dark jeans, it would be too much darkness, it needs a contrast!
Only a couple of more days of white jeans and then it will be October and then I will wear dark denim and lighter long sleeves with jeans.
I can tell you that information about what I will be wearing the next couple of weeks because I already have all my outfits planned out until like the end of November.....
Yep!
I'm crazy!
But you love me because you still keep coming back to read my blog!
So thank you!
Lots of love, talk to you later!!

BiPolar Weather

In case you missed my last blog post to explain why I was surprised I was able to get out of bed and get dressed is linked HERE.
I got back to my room at 12:15 am on Sunday night.
I had two tests Monday morning.
My Calc 111 test at 8am and my Health 100 test at 11am!
Woo!
Math was kinda hard but Health was super easy! I got a 48/50 on it.
I was so exhausted after those two tests and all my traveling that I went back to my "humble abode" and took a nap for an hour and a half. Well it was only really an hour because at the hour mark I woke up coughing. And I couldn't stop. So honestly I think our AC filter needs to be changed. So B called maintenance to get it fixed.
I just had so much work to do last night. I had a French test to study for but just lots of other work that I didn't really get to do because I was home this weekend.

So lets talk about the weather here right now...
Look how gorgeous and sunny it is in these photos!
I am not joking 10 minutes later, torrential down pour....
I had my rain jacket with me because I knew it was going to rain but I didn't have rain boots!
So my Jack's got soaked!
They always get wet! Probably because I am always wearing them!
I was talking with Ashley and she looked so cute yesterday in very fall esq. clothes and here I was in a romper and flip flops....
I refuse to go wear fall clothes yet! It's still warm!
So I am just layering and carrying my denim jacket everywhere and now apparently my umbrella!
It's supposed to rain every day this week and then clear up this weekend which will be nice for the County Fair! I'm so excited, I've never been to one! They don't have County Fair's where I'm from!

My Weekend 9/22-9/25

I started writing this post in the airport in Greensboro, North Carolina on Friday.
This airport was empty and this guy sat right down next to my stuff. Like dude why???
Ahhh anyway...
But I did meet another girl from New York but she's flying into Albany. And she was also going to see her boyfriend play hockey over the weekend.
Before I can even get into my eventful weekend lets talk about what happened on Thursday!

To start off Thursday, I woke up to my alarm and checked my email. Good thing I checked my email because my first year seminar class got canceled. My teacher said he got sick from eating too many free Krispy Kreme donuts, from dress up like a pirate day. I just had my first full one the other night at our hall mixer with the boys downstairs. It was great!
And I didn't know this but Winston Salem, where Wake is is the capital of Krispy Kreme donuts.
So although class was canceled, I still had an assignment to do. I had to walk all the way over to the Museum of Anthropology on campus to observe the new exhibits and critique them. The essay I wrote actually turned out pretty well if I do say so myself, but still. And on the way there I kind of got rained on.
Also later in the day when I went to the post office, I got rained on! And got mud on the back of my white pants.
I picked up my new planner!
I dropped $75 on it. Yep....
Too much money. But so far I like it. I don't know if it was $75 dollars worth, but we shall see. I literally cringed when I saw the price. But it is the best one I found in the middle of the semester.
Mom, don't worry I used my allowance for it. So the month isn't even over and I used up all of my allowance.... Oops
That was about it for Thursday. I just did a lot of work so I wouldn't have to do it over the weekend and it actually worked out pretty well.

So on Friday, I had my two classes and then left for the airport at 10 am.
I got to this tiny airport, and I was the only one on line for security so I ended up sitting in the terminal for two hours waiting for my flight.
I was blogging, I met that girl, had that weird old guy sit next to me and I did some homework.
So this is where my day starts going cray...
I board the plane, sit in the wrong seat by accident, have a rough time putting my huge Vera Bradley duffel bag up in the overhead compartment, but the flight attendant helped me, and find out my window seat is next to this really large woman. So I sit down. And I'm sorry but this woman was so large she was IN MY SEAT!!! I was like is this a joke or something. I was so confused and thought it was a joke. So I asked her to politely move up the arm rest on the aisle so we could put the middle arm rest down and she couldn't, so the flight attendant let me move my seat to the exit row. Which was actually great because I had so much leg room!
The guy sitting next to me had the same problem with his original seat.
So Greensboro is a very small airport and usually just makes connection flights, which was what I was doing.
So because we were flying into Charlotte, a huge and very busy airport, there was no fly space for us, thus we sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes, and it was only supposed to be a 20 minute flight. And mind you I only had an hour lay over. So great.
We land at Charlotte at gate E22, my next flight to New York was at gate C8.
I RAN!
I have never ran so fast and been so out of breath before. I literally made the flight by one minute.
It was horrible.
I was panting like crazy and looked like a fish out of water.
My bags were both so heavy but I was determined to make that flight.
I really doubted it, and I told my parents I didn't think I was going to make it, but I did. Shoutout to my parents for giving me my nice long legs!
So I boarded the plane and lucky me, I got a full row to myself. It was great!
I sat in the middle seat and put my stuff on both of the seats next to me and I was able to get some solid work done in an hour and a half.
And I would just like to say, this was my first time traveling by myself, and if you know me I am not a big fan of flying, but after this weekend, I am a pro!
I was so proud of how calm I was and how well I handled the situation with the fat lady and with running in the airport. Also just the actual flying part!
I am really proud of myself!
So I landed in NY, my mom picked me up and we drove home!
I had some well deserved NY pizza, I savored every second.
I have to say it was so weird being home!
I saw my sister and her family Friday night as well as Jack!
It was so nice seeing everyone, but it was so weird being home!
My mom took over my room and my bathroom! Mom, I have been gone for a month!
She even sleeps in my bed!
Like mom!
I have to say I feel like I have two lives. One life with my family and high school friends and then another life now at college. I was getting texts from my college friends about where they wanted to go to dinner, and I was like wait what who are these people. Of course I knew who they were but it was just weird being in my "old life" with all these new people texting me.

On Saturday, I slept in a bit, got my nails done with my mom and then had lunch with my good friend Bubbles! Aka Sophia! This past weekend was my high school's homecoming . So she was home to see her brother play in the football game, which they won (for once) and I wasn't home for that but for some other important things.
My brother and I flew in from college to become Godparents to our youngest niece, Zoe.
The Christening was on Sunday, so on Saturday I spent time with her, my brother, sister-in-law and other niece and nephew. It was really nice seeing them for a bit! We got to catch up.
By my request: my mother made spaghetti and meatballs. And it was so delicious. I hadn't had that in over a month. Maybe why I have lost so much weight combined with the 9,000 steps I take a day....
But it was so worth it. Since the time I have been down in NC, I have had one meal with pasta, and I like my mom's pasta and sauce wayyyy better.
So Mom, if you want you can totally send me down some pasta and meatballs, please and thank you!
After our early but very nice family dinner, Jack's parents and brother picked me up to go to Jack's first home hockey game!
It was freezing at the rink, so good thing I wore layers. It was so much fun!
He played great, had the first assist and they won the game 5-0!
His whole team knew I was coming to the game, so Jack told me they kept asking to meet me or whatever. And his coach even told Jack that I should come to the games more often because I make him play better!
And then his team also won, 6-1, on Sunday morning against the same team!

And finally Sunday.
On Sunday I slept in a bit, took a nice shower, ate a bagel, packed and did some work.
I got to see my grandparents for some brunch before the christening too!
My brother and I all got all dressed up for the Christening- suit for him, dress and heels for me and went over to church. We got there at the same time my brother, sister-in-law and all my other nieces and nephews got there, including my Goddaughter.
She was placed in my arms and fell asleep, before the ceremony even started.
And she is a heavy baby! She's huge!
So after the ceremony we went back to Michael's house for the party!
The catering was delicious and apparently I was delicious too because all of the mosquitos ate my legs up!!
I ate dinner quickly and then left at 5:30 to go back to Wake!
I said goodbye to my family and boyfriend and was on my way.
I was really emotional leaving the first time, and I was probably the same or if not more so this time.
I just hate saying goodbye and this time I'm not going to see most of my family for two months at Thanksgiving.
I will see my parents in a month when they come down for Fall Break and my cousin who is an alum at Homecoming. But everyone else I won't see in person for a while.
So it was really hard.
I left Michael's house in tears and walked to my house, finished packing up my things, changed, packed the necessities: bagels, and drove to the airport.
I boarded my first flight fine. I met an assistant coach of Army. He had a bag with Army's logo on it, so me being a friendly person, asked if he was Army, he replied yes, I then teased him about that were playing Army in homecoming and he better watch out because we are undefeated right now! Woo go Wake! We are also undefeated in soccer! He was surprised that I knew the Army logo, and then I told him that my brother loves Navy and my dad was in the Air Force, which he both booed at. We walked out on the tarmac and climbed up the stairs of this tiny plane. And then I asked him to help me put my huge and very heavy Vera Bradley duffel bag (with lots of bagels) into the tiny overhead compartment.
It fit, like it always does, and another guy helped me out too.
I sat in my seat waved goodbye to NY and did some studying.
I landed back in NC at 10pm. My flight to Greensboro landed at 11:30. I didn't have to run in the airport this time. I studied for my health test on that short plane ride and then took an somewhat sketchy Uber back to campus.
I got back to campus at 12:15am, and you will just have to read about the rest of that day in my next blog post.....

Ta ta for now

xoxo

Speech Code

I had a very interesting discussion in my politics class on Wednesday!
As everyone hopefully knows, we as Americans have rights that are protected by the Constitution.
One of our most basic rights is the right to free speech, granted by the 1st Amendment.
My school, which is a private institution has a speech code within our Code of Conduct, rules that say what we can or cannot display in our windows and what kind of posters we can hang around campus.
There has been a controversial issue regarding the speech code because there were some offensive posters according to some students about Donald Trump and the Black Lives Matter movement.
I find this very interesting. The university is saying that the posters in the windows need to be removed because they don't follow the Code of Conduct, yet at the same time the students are arguing about the freedom of speech and expression.
It is a very interesting debate.
More details will be to follow.

On a lighter note, on Wednesday Kristin and I attended the pilates class again and it was so much fun and such a good burn. I forgot how much I loved pilates and I will definitely be attending that class every Monday and Wednesday. We also really want to try a spin class and a barre class! But there aren't enough hours in the day. We tried to go to a spin class after the pilates class just for that extra burn but someone, not mentioning any names, mixed up the time.....
But it's all good I had a lot of work to do anyway.

And my hand is not diseased I promise! It looks like there is something seriously wrong with my hand but I swear there isn't! I got Henna on my hand a week ago and it's still not completely off!

I love this outfit!
I wore this when I went to Black Tap in NYC, read that post here! And I got so many complements and so many likes on my picture on Instagram, follow me on Insta @tallandpreppy!
Not gonna lie this shirt gets super annoying throughout the day because the off the shoulder part always slides up over my shoulders, but I still think it's adorable.
And yes, I know it's after Labor Day but who cares! You can wear white after Labor Day especially because it is still warm here in NC!
And I always have a ugly black hair tie on my wrist! I'm sorry! I know it's so ugly but like I just need to have one on me at all times!
