Wednesday is the BEST Day of the Week!

When I was in elementary school I used to say Mondays were my favorite day of the week. I was always so excited to go to school because I loved going to class, I still do, and because I got to be reunited with all my friends after the weekend.
I still love Mondays, but I look forward to Wednesdays the most.

Hump Day is the day where I do my laundry and clean my room.
Something about cleaning makes me calm and relaxed.
I also think it is kind of fun!

But the reason I LOVE Wednesdays is because of Catholic Community dinner.
Every Wednesday night, at 6pm, I walk down to Collins Residence Hall, my freshman year dorm, and eat a homecooked meal with the nicest people on campus.
I am always so excited to go and catch up with all the amazing people in Catholic Community.
Every night I leave this dinner feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
It has become my favorite meal of the week and now my favorite day of the week because I so sincerely look forward to the dinners in Collin’s basement, in the Catholic Community lounge.
Open to all students, regardless if you are Catholic or not, it just is a warm and inviting space to go to every Wednesday night.

Wednesday also means we are half way through the week and are almost ready to celebrate the weekend!
To celebrate today, I am wearing these amazing statement earrings from Kate Spade.
I got them as a part of my monthly subscription box from Rocksbox!
You can get your first month of Rocksbox free with the code tallandpreppyxoxo at checkout!
It is my favorite subscription service and I can’t wait to continue to show you all the cute pieces I get each month!

Life Update: Another Campus Scandal, Parties, Law School and Internships

Name a better time to write a life update blog post than in the 11-hour car ride to Fort Lauderdale for Spring Break!

I am having the best semester!

LAW SCHOOL

I am working as a research assistant at Wake Forest University School of Law this semester.
I am also taking a really cool class at the law school!
A couple of weeks ago I got to be a juror on a mock trial.
Tonight, I am being initiated into the first pledge class of Phi Alpha Delta, an international law fraternity.

PARTY

If you remember from last year I was Kappa Delta Date Function Chair. It was a hard position. A big responsibility. A very stressful job. But this year I no longer hold that position, so I get to have some fun!
We had our annual Stoplight date function a couple of weeks ago! And I got to bring three friends and we danced the night away.

Our next date function is next week, and the theme is TalleaKD Nights like Talladega Nights, the silly NASCAR movie with Will Ferrell.

I attended the Dean’s List Gala a couple of weeks ago. It was a very nice honor.

We booked a fun trip to celebrate my 21st Birthday in August!

I planned a Dijon Reunion Dinner with the group of students that I went abroad with. Our professor also came to the dinner!

EXPLORING

I explored Charlotte and went to a Hornets v. Bulls game a month ago!

I am also trying to explore downtown more frequently. Winston has some amazing restaurants. It is such a foody town, which is perfect for me. My friends and I always go to the same restaurants and I would love to continue to go to some new restaurants and explore.
We went to Di Lisio’s Italian restaurant the other night. It was AMAZING. The chef/owner is from Italy, so you know it was extraordinary.
I went to Jeffry Adams a couple of weeks ago to celebrate Emily’s Birthday and am going back this weekend to celebrate Erin’s! It is a staple restaurant in Winston!

WORK

I am interviewing for potential summer internships. A very scary but also important process to learn how to do.

SCHOOL

Before Spring Break was midterms, hence the pictures in the library!

Class registration is next week. I can’t believe I have to pick classes for senior year!

I am also continuing to be a tour guide! Every Friday I give a tour, and so far, every Friday it has RAINED during my tours. Just my luck.

You also may have heard about the “Varsity Blues Scandal” that is going on around some top tier universities. Unfortunately, Wake Forest is involved and being investigated by the Department of Justice. The University had nothing to do with it, rather just the volleyball coach, who was put on leave and arrested last week.

That’s all folks! (For now!)

Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Saturday, March 9th, 5:45 am our 12-hour road trip from Wake Forest University to Fort Lauderdale, Florida began!

I was really not looking forward to the road trip because I am very impatient, however I was very pleasantly surprised by how fast it went and how fun it was!

After our long road trip, we spent the whole week basking in the sun!

We spent most of our time sitting on the beach, tossing a football around, jumping in the water and relaxing.

Our first day, my cousin took my friends and I out on his boat into the Boca Raton Lake.

One night we went fishing off the dock.

Another night we jumped into the hot tub!

And then we made the 12-hour drive home on the 16th!

A group of six of my friends and I road tripped down in two cars!

I had the best of both worlds this trip! I got to hang out with my friends and see some of my family at the same time!

I saw my brother who lives in Lauderdale and my cousins. I even met up with my twin brother on the beach!

I stayed with my friend Kate, who lives in Lauderdale! You may recognize her because I went abroad with her.

Fort Lauderdale is a fun place for young college kids!
Lauderdale beach, on A1A, right across from the Ritz is the PLACE TO BE!

Las Olas Boulevard is the hot spot for good restaurants and bars!

On Las Olas is El Camino, a delicious and moderately priced Mexican restaurant.
We went twice in one week because it was so yummy.

We also found a gelato shop on Las Olas, 100% recommend.

We also went to Asia Bay for our last night in Lauderdale and ate some really delicious sushi!

I was skeptical that this spring break wouldn’t compare to last year, but it was tough competition!

Where to for senior year spring break?

College Morning Routine

I am a morning person.
I thrive in the early hours of the day right after I wake up.
I like to take my time and have “me” time in the morning, so I am not stressed and can have an amazing day!

7:30 am: Alarm sounds
Hop back into bed for 5 minutes to scroll through Instagram, check the weather and answer any texts.
7:40 am: I throw on my robe, make my bed- the most important thing to do in the morning, and play some music.
I get dressed, moisturize and put on all my different face creams (would you like to see a post on my skin care routine?)
7:50 am: I sit down at my computer and check my emails. I check my planner and see what is going on for the day. I pack up my backpack. I also take 5 minutes for my 5 Minute Journal and set my intentions for the day. It’s my favorite thing to do every morning.

8 am: I brush my teeth and wet my Beauty Blender.
I do my 15-minute makeup routine (would you like a blog post on that?)
8:15 am: I figure out what I am going to do with my hair, usually straighten a couple of wavy pieces in the back of my head and leave it down. You can read about my hair care routine HERE and enter a GIVEAWAY!
8:20 am: I put on my jewelry and my shoes! I also pick out my sunglasses.
8:30 am: Jacket is on, backpack packed and I’m out the door for breakfast!

And yes, I actually do sleep in these luxurious Victoria Secret pjs every night and use this adorable eye mask from Handmade Beauthing on Etsy!

Shave Free Spring Break with NAIR

LADIES!

Are you tired of razor burn? Are you tired of shaving? Does waxing hurt too much?

YES! YES! YES!

GO GET NAIR!

It is Spring Break season also known as bikini season, and shaving is annoying especially for those hairy ladies, aka ME!

I discovered Nair my senior year of high school from a friend.
I have not stopped using it since!

Before you get in the shower, you put the white, thick, sunscreen like consistency, cream on the part of your body (legs, bikini line, armpits, arms, legs, etc.) that you would normally shave or remove hair from.
Nair is a depilatory cream the removes the hair off your body in 10 minutes.
I know that sounds scary, but I cannot emphasize enough that it does NOT HURT! When I use Nair, it feels like I have a thick sunscreen on and is painless.
I normally keep it on for 9 minutes, and afterwards wash it off with a warm face cloth, and there you go, beautiful, soft and hairless body!
After using Nair, I can go a week without shaving, and it is amazing!

This product is magical.
Every woman needs this product in her life!
