A Litte Neckerchief

I was a little daring yesterday in my outfit choice.
I normally like to stick to the classics and sometimes I wear something trendy.
But yesterday, I decided to mix the two.
I mixed my classic white button down with a trendy item- a red bandana neckerchief.
This outfit was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest! I think I even re-pinned it! (Go check it out! I love Pinterest! @tallandpreppy )
I know neckerchiefs could be considered a classic item, because scarves never went out of style, but wearing neckerchiefs kind of did.
Bandanas are also really trendy right now, to wear as scarves. So the fact that I mixed the two, means extra style points for me!
My mom used to wear neckerchiefs, a lot more than she does now. But they used to be (and maybe still are) her signature item.
I felt very much like my stylish mother in my outfit yesterday. It was great.

Some people questioned my outfit, but most didn't, and some said if one person could pull off a bright red neckerchief it was definitely me!
I had a lot of fun wearing something different. I was super excited to wear this outfit and I think it was a big success.

I love that I wore a very simple outfit- a white button down, jeans and cheetah flats, but I was able to make my outfit more trendy and just more fun, with adding a bandana as a neckerchief!
It was so simple, and it was free!
I had the bandana, and it is a simple way to add some color and flair to an outfit!

I have become more experimental with my style now that I am in college.
I am still very preppy and classic, but I love to wear trendy pieces!
I used to be not as daring in high school, because I felt like girls at my high school judged me if I wasn't wearing J Crew.
I didn't always let that get in the way, and would still rock my very ostentatious and trendy outfits, but now that I am in college and all the walk ways are my runways, I am playing with my fashion even more!

Summer is in Sight!

I am three days shy of being half way through the semester!
I can't believe it! This semester has gone by sooooo fast and I want it to slow down!
I love it here and I can't imagine leaving my friends behind for four months of summer.
Yet at the same time I am super excited for summer because I will be able to annoy my twin brother as well as my sister and my parents! Oh and of course Mitchie, George and Soap, back home!

It was 72 degrees yesterday.....
Ah yeah, summer is definitely before us!
After spring break, I will hopefully be able to break out my shorts and skirts, but until then, I am going to continue to wear pants and flats (because I have to paint my toes)...
It's also chilly in the morning, so I feel as if I have to wear an outfit that doesn't require changing though out the day.
After classes are over today, I am going to take out some of my summer clothes from under my bed and do some ironing, so I have things to wear next week, because I am kinda running low on options!

In a week I go away on spring break with my amigas!
If you couldn't guess from my Instagram (@tallandpreppy) where we are going, I guess you're not so good at guessing! But if you need another hint: it is super warm and I go there all the time...
I am very excited to go, but at the same time I have too much to do before I can even really think about going!

Attacked for Being a New Yorker...

Yes you read that right... I was verbally attacked yesterday in my English class for being a New Yorker....
Let me set up the scene for you.
We are reading The Grand Babylon Hotel, that my professor actually edited, and we were discussing what Jules and Miss Spencer meant in the first chapter when they were commenting on that Mr. Racksole is a New Yorker.
And a kid in my class, who I am friendly with, said, "Well you know, New Yorker's just have that vibe about them...."
Ya see, normally I would keep my mouth closed here, but since I am pretty comfortable in the class and a couple of the guys and I joke around, and I like the teacher, I said, "Excuse me, what does that mean? I'm a New Yorker!"
And he followed up with saying, "Exactly, my point...."
The class went nuts....
I got dissed for being a New Yorker...
Never in my life has that happened.
He came up to me after class and apologized and I knew he was just kidding, so no big deal, but still, #rude!
It was just really funny, and that made my day, even though it was kinda a bash to me, it was still fun! Honestly, I think he's just jealous that he's not from the best state ever!
(Sorry, I can't help it, New York is the best and I am a proud New Yorker!!!)

I did a lot of writing yesterday.
So good thing I didn't have a blog post to also type up because I probably wold have died.
I just had a very off day. It was very stressful and not a fun day.
I had an English paper due today, 2 French compositions, and a 1000 word article for the paper due.

But during all that stress, my friends were able to cheer me up.
Juliana walked into my room in a gorgeous ball gown and I literally died, omg.
(Yes, shopping and dressing up makes me feel better!)
She needed my help deciding which gown to wear to Kathleen's debutant ball in Texas over spring break.
Ah I just want to go to dress up!!!
I am soooo jealous that I couldn't go, but I am also super super excited for my trip.
I wish I could be a debutant, it sounds so fun to dress up and dance! Ahhh
And until my future daughter can be a debutant, lol, I guess I will just have to reminisce about senior prom. I would love to wear my dress again! Ahhhh I love that dress!!
(Click HERE to see pictures from my prom!)

Ashley and I used a prop yesterday for our pictures!
My cheetah umbrella! Don't you love it!?
And look it matches my shoes!!!
I have finally accepted that it is no longer winter and that I have to change the "label" to Warm Weather...
Tomorrow I have to pull my summer clothes out of my suitcase under my bed and put away my sweaters, because it's only going to get warmer from here!
I'm excited for spring, but I just don't know what to wear during this awkward transition time.
I literally just don't know what to wear anymore!
So yesterday, I decided on a little denim on denim!
Something different. Very casual but unique!

Officially a Member!

You would think, President's Day, a day I have gotten off my whole life, I would get off...
but nope!
I'm a little salty about it, if you couldn't tell.
I am also a little salty that it is February break for everyone up north and my sister and her family are down in Florida sitting on the beach right now, and I am here at school...
But only two more weeks until I am sitting on the beach! Woo!
But before that I have three French papers due, an English paper, a speech and a History midterm!
So excited to be done with all of it!
But I have to say, yesterday I felt like I was at the beach.
It was 70 degrees during lunch time, and Kristin and I sat on the quad, whilst we ate our rabbit food (aka salads) and took in some rays.
Listen to this, I actually got a little sunburned.....
I know, that sounds crazy, but I did!
On my arms, under the black sleeves of my shirt....
Now I finally understand why they say never wear black in the sun!

Since it is February break, there are soooooo many campus tours! It is really fun to see all these potential Deacs, but also a little intimidating because they stare at you, and "check you out" specifically the girls- to see what your wearing, as you go about your day.
When Ashley and I were trying to find a spot to take pictures yesterday, it was more of a struggle than normal, we walked past a tour group and two kids in the tour had t-shirts that said my high school.
I got so excited, but then I chickened out and didn't say anything....
I should of!
Ah, next time!

Last night was really exciting because I was FINALLY initiated into Kappa Delta!
I have gone through 5 stages of initiation, by last night, so I was just ready for it to be over!
And now, I am no longer a "baby," but rather a sister!
I am so excited and I am so happy to be apart of the best sorority ever!

I am having a difficult time with the weather down here...
It is 70 degrees and gorgeous everyday, but it also February.
Girls and guys were literally in shorts and t-shirts yesterday, and I was still in winter clothes (as I am in again today).
I don't know if I should break out my spring clothes!
I feel like I should! And just wear my long sleeve spring shirts and slowly make the transition into spring...
I'm excited for the warmer weather, but I also still have so many cute winter outfits I could still be wearing, if I was back home.... :(
But that's okay!

Spring is Here?!

The Cherry Blossom trees are in full bloom and I am in a turtleneck...
These pictures are a little confusing... I know.
We had such nice weather last weekend that the trees bloomed and it is only February!
And because it is only February it was a bit chilly yesterday, so I bundled up in my turtleneck!
This is the first and probably last time I'm wearing this turtleneck this winter season, but that's okay, because I am a little self conscious of it.
I wrote a blog post last year all about "turtleneck confidence..." (linked HERE).
I know, silly name and probably a silly blog post, but I was just writing my feelings down and I have to say I still felt the same way yesterday.
Ashley, even commented on how self conscious I was of the turtleneck.
And I tried to explain, that I really didn't have a reason why I was self conscious of it, except that I felt like I was being strangled. And I also felt like a 90 year old grandma...
Like I think this turtleneck is really pretty and I love the color, but I was just so self conscious all day.
I felt like everyone was staring at my stupid neck, because the neck part was so big.
But it's fine, I'm over it and will try to only wear it when it is super super cold outside!

To go along with the grandma trend I was pulling yesterday,
I went to a ballroom dance class...
It was so fun and I loved it! My mom was so jealous! I did some ballroom dancing in high school in my theater productions, so I wasn't a total newbie last night but it was still hard, especially if you don't have a good partner... which I really didn't...
But it's fine! I'm gonna try to recruit some of my guy friends to do it, and tell them that all girls love a guy that can ballroom dance :)

A Walking Burrito Bowl

Hi friends!
And I'm back!

I had a busy day on Valentine's Day, not because I had a Valentine, besides my mom of course, who sent me a care package filled with delicious cookies and candy, but because I just had a lot of classes and meeting and etc.
And for once on Valentine's day I wasn't sad...
Not that I am actually ever really that sad on Valentine's day, but I think everyone that is single always feels a little sad on V-day, but not me this year!
I am kinda loving being single! It's so much fun!
And this year was just a good Valentine's day filled with love from my friends and family.

Last night I went to chipotle with my BIG!
I love chipotle, don't get me wrong, but I am trying to save money for my trip!!!
Spring break is in t-minus 14 days and we are SOOOOO excited!
This weekend we are going to plan out all the restaurants we want to go to and make a grocery list, just stuff like that!
But back to Chipotle...
I love it, and think it is delicious, yet at the same time, every time I leave there I end up smelling like it!
So translation: I end up being a WALKING BURRITO!!!
Like that's not cute!
Emily came into my room last night and was like what is that smell... and I was ah I just went to Chipotle, and she was like ah yah I can tell...
So I ended up dousing myself in perfume before going to the library, so I didn't make everyone else sitting around me hungry because I smelled liked Chipotle, or mad that they didn't have any Chipotle.

I wore lots and lots of layers yesterday!
I love layering, it's so fun because you get to wear so many pieces of clothes at once!
And it keeps you warm.
And I think it just looks super super chic!
It's a great way to transition from winter to spring.
As you can see, from the last picture, those are cherry blossom trees in full bloom! So it is starting to become spring here in North Carolina!
It's so crazy, and I kinda miss the snow, not gonna lie.
But I do love me some warm weather.
Who doesn't?

Taco Night

I had a very productive day yesterday!
My 9 am got canceled and I wasn't tired so I just got up at my normal time and worked all morning!
It was great! I got really ahead and then I was able to enjoy dinner out last night.

I had my first lineage dinner last night after chapter at a really good Mexican place downtown!
Let me just say that my lineage is crazy and I love them!
Unfortunately my Big couldn't make it but we had a very loud and crazy dinner filled with lots of tacos and queso!
It was delicious!
I am a little mad at myself though because I ate too much and I had a really good workout earlier in the day, so the food kinda counteracted the workout, and spring break is in 16 days.... sooo yeah.

I even watched TV last night and had lights out at 11pm!
I'm feeling great!
Maybe it's also because the weather is so nice and warm! On Sunday, I sat outside all day and did my work on the upper quad because it was literally 80 degrees!! (Sorry New York!)
I am loving it here in the South!

Emily's Bday Dinner

Happy belated bday Em!!
Ilyyyy, but you already know that!

On Friday,
I had an English presentation on Pride and Prejudice. Everyone in my class thinks the presentations are redundant and boring, so me being myself, I made class fun! I cracked some jokes during my presentation and also featured a picture from when I was in a production of Pride and Prejudice in 9th grade...lol, braces and all! It was great!
The class laughed, but not as much as I laughed at myself.
I later got a haircut and cleaned my room, because I had to get rid of/put away all my Kappa Delta gifts from my BIG.
That night we went out to dinner for Em's bday with her parents! Woo!
We wore those silly happy birthday hats, and shared lots of laughs.
That night, I went to a crush party with three of my guy friends and we had such a fun time, and danced the whole night!
Saturday morning, we woke up early and Em (who is normally my game day buddy) ditched me to sit with her parents so I dragged one of my guy friends to go with me and I made it on the "jumbotron" twice!!!
MY LIFE HAS BEEN FULFILLED!!
lol

I would like to say that the outfit that Emily wore to dinner was styled by yours truly...
And I really just wanted to make this blog post so I could say that...
Haha, just kidding!
But look how cute she looks!! (And look how cute and stylish all my friends look!)

My outfit:
Sweater: J Crew cable knit white sweater (similar)
Boots: Vince Camuto brown riding boots

Emily's outfit:

MY BIG!!!

I now have a BIG and a roommate for next year!!!
After a week of amazing surprises and these awesome pug shirts, I now have a BIG!
Her name is Sydney, and I don't really know her that well, but I have a feeling that we are going to be a really great team.
I am not a big fan of surprises and Sydney was definitely a surprise! But a good surprise!
After processing it all, I am really excited for her to be my BIG!
EEEKKK!!

And Juliana and I decided we are going to be roommates next year!
We are so excited! We are gonna live with our sorority and it's gonna be so much fun!
I honestly love my sorority and am so honored and glad to be a part of it!

Speaking of my sorority, we are having a CRUSH party tonight!
I am so excited!
I invited three of my "crushes" aka three of my really good guy friends to come dance with me at our stoplight themed party.
So we will all be in green because we are all SINGLE AND READY TO MINGLE!!!
WOOO!!

It was so windy and cold yesterday, that these pictures aren't the best, but I loved my outfit, so we had to!

Pants: AE burgundy knit pants
