Derby Days

Add caption

This week has been "Derby Days"!
What is Derby Days? You may ask...
Derby Days is an interesting week, to say the least, hosted by Sigma Chi to raise money for their philanthropies.
Each sorority competes against each other in various events during the week.
For example, the other day there were silly competitions like the tug of war, the mackerel slap, (where a sorority girl literally hits a Sigma Chi in the face with a real dead fish.... fun right?!)
jousting, and eating contests.

But the fun didn't stop there!
Last night, all the sororities had a dance off, called "airbands."
It was at this sketchy club downtown, and the dances were, let's just say, promiscuous...
Like I definitely would not want my parents to be there to watch my dance or the rest of the dances...
Including some strip teases by some of the Sigma Chi pledges...
It was very interesting...

KD went on first!
We were really nervous, but once we got on stage, we rocked it!
It was kinda rocky but it was hard to focus on the dance steps when you had this crazy crowd in front of you and you just wanted to put on a good show for them and the judges.
I seriously messed up. I had to dance with a "coach" from Sigma Chi and it was bad, but it was fun!
I had a great time, and I definitely want to do it again next year!
I love to dance and perform, even if it is "promiscuous" and I can't wait to do it again!

Yesterday, my day was pretty much consumed by "airbands."
We practiced a lot and I had little time for homework yesterday, but it's okay.
I also retrieved my missing water bottle from my chorus room.
And now I am convinced I have a stress fracture in my foot, from all the walking I do! Woo!
But no, I won't go to student health, because they won't tell me anything that is worth my time.

But regardless of my possibly stress fractured foot, I still rocked an adorable outfit!!
Off the shoulder stuff is back, yet again for another season!
I wasn't too into off the shoulder stuff last year, probably because I couldn't really get my hands on anything cute, but I am really loving it now!
I think off the shoulder shirts and dresses are sexy!
But it's a different kind of sexy, more understated. It shows a good amount of skin, but nothing too revealing or showy.
I love my shoulders and arms so this is the perfect trend for me.
And this shirt also features the ribbon/ties on the sleeves trend.
I kept the ties just long and not tied, because I thought it looked cooler this way, but I think it would also look great tied into bows!
So I was really very trendy yesterday, obviously! (this is where I would put the emoji with the girl and her hand out next to her head)

It Only Gets Better

"It only gets better" or "it only gets easier" are two very common phrases I have heard my whole life.
Those two quotes apply to school, boys, relationships, friends and just life in general.
But I don't know if those are both necessarily true all of the time.
But for my life right now, I know it only does get better.
Tuesday's are my rough and stressful days this semester.
Not because I have 5 classes on Tuesday's (like last semester, click HERE to read that post). But rather because I do my laundry and run around and do errands.
Usually it is stressful, but not as crazy as yesterday.
My day started off well!
This cute boy in my history class smiled at me, the weather was nice and I had a cute outfit on!
And as I am leaving my class, I get a phone call from an internship that I had applied for, saying that they STILL didn't have my paperwork in, after I applied in January....
Ahhh so that was frustrating.
And then there was the laundry situation...
I did three loads yesterday, and I had three tide pods, but apparently I put two tide pods in one machine and none in the other, because my colored load still smelled gross after I took it out of the washing machine.... so there was that!
So I had to redo that load.
And then I ran over to office hours for a teacher. I waited outside her office until she was done with one student and then she told me she couldn't see me because she had a meeting...
But it's fine I caught up on some emails!
And then I ran back to get my laundry out.
I went to the library to rescan my documents for the internship and then finally was able to work out.
But the craziness didn't end there!
I rushed back from chorus class to shower really quickly and then go to dinner.
At dinner I realized that I didn't have my prized possession- my water bottle.....
So I walked all the way back to my dorm, not there, then all the way to my chorus room, where the door was locked....
So I gave up on that and went to study on the 7th floor of the library, my new favorite spot, and realized this was going to be a long night of me getting up every 5 minutes to go get a drink from the water fountain without my water bottle.
But I thought I could do it.
But apparently I couldn't. Nor could I even write down in my planner that I needed to get my water bottle tomorrow in my planner because I didn't even have my pencil case!!
AHHH
Thankfully, Emily was in the library and I went all the way downstairs to floor 2 to grab a pencil.
I then climbed back up to floor 7 and concluded I couldn't do my homework without my water bottle.
So I walked all the way back to my dorm to get another water bottle and supposedly my pencil case.
There was no pencil case in my room, it was in my backpack back on the 7th floor of the library.

So after climbing 48 flights, (literally) I was really able to bunker down and do my homework....

And it only gets better from there!
Today I have a dance competition for Derby Days, which I will talk about on the blog tomorrow and then Thursday I have informal!
As well as more exciting events happening this weekend!

Good thing I changed out of my super cute outfit, pictured above, to do all that running around in!
My friends make fun of me because I am never in leggings and a t-shirt EVER, except for dinner and after dinner when I am studying in the library!

Shoe-A-Holic?

I should have worn my Jack's yesterday for two reasons, it was 77 degrees when we were taking these pics so my feet were sweating AND Jack Roger's had a HUGE sale yesterday!
And unfortunately, I didn't buy anything.
I don't know, I am not as obsessed with shoes or accessories like I am obsessed with clothes.
I just feel like all of my shoes are very classic (except for a few unique pairs- like my tassel sandals or bright blue shoes) and that they go with every item in my closet.
I just don't have the urge to buy shoes like I do with clothes.
And speaking of buying clothes, my J Crew package came in yesterday! I got another pair of shorts, just what I need, so that makes 15 pairs, I think. (HERE is an old post about all my shorts...)
I also got some cute shirts and a new pair of earrings, that I think will really add something fun to my look!
Oh and here we go again with this dress!
I really love this dress, so do Michelle and Giorgia. They may even say that this is their favorite dress of mine.
But really they are just being funny, because back in like the 9th grade I wore this dress on the same day that a teacher in my high school wore this dress, and I have never heard the end of it since.
But I would just like to say, that good for me, that this dress still fits and looks good.
So ha!

My Fav Spring Outfit

I have decided this is my new favorite spring outfit...
But that will probably change, since I just placed two orders- one from J Crew (shocker!) and one from H&M (other shocker).
I never thought to wear one of my favorite gingham shirts with white jeans, until I saw a picture on Pinterest of a girl wearing the same J Crew gingham shirt tied at the waist and with a white skirt!
I honestly never thought to wear it like this...
I don't know why! It seems so simple and it looks so chic!

And I looked so chic all day on campus yesterday!
And I thought I looked chic, until I had a FaceTime date with Michelle and she asked me where the rodeo was...
HA HA very funny Michelle!

Shirt: J Crew navy blue gingham button down
Pants: Gap high waisted white skinny jeans
Shoes: Tory Burch nude ballet flats
Earrings: F21 floral studs

The Happiest Day of My Life

And the class of 2021 admission letters just went out!!!
EEEEKKK!!
I am so excited for all the new Demon Deacons!
It brings back so many memories about applying to Wake and waiting for my acceptance letter....
Ah, those were the days.
I'm nervous and anxious just now, even thinking about that dreadful time.
If you want to read about how I got my acceptance letter, and how my dad almost threw it out, click HERE.
I tell the story now to my friends, now that we are all here and I always tell it with the biggest smile on my face! :) It was the best day of my life, and I have honestly never been happier.
I am so blessed that I go to the amazing school that I do, and I just love it so much.
I fall in love with Wake a little more everyday.

It's All About the Sleeves

Tuesday

Wednesday

It has been all about the sleeves recently!

I wore my favorite crazy shirt on Tuesday. It was perfect, because I really needed to shake off (figuratively and literally) all the drama that had went on with housing on Monday. And it just made me feel happy.
I always get so many compliments when I wear that crazy shirt, and so many people stare.
I don't know if they stare because they like the shirt, think it's too much or are jealous that they can't pull it off like I do... I don't know! And I don't care!

Yesterday, I wore a crazy sleeved shirt too!
Big ruffled sleeves or bell sleeves are really in right now and I'm loving it.
I bought the orange and blue shirt, I want to say in like 9th grade, when bell sleeves were just coming back in style and now they are still in style!
I love when that happens.
I also get so many compliments on this shirt, again probably because it is so out there.
But I think it's fun!
When I pair it with white or black pants and simple accessories, it doesn't seem that crazy, I promise.

Both of these shirts are sold out, but I have listed some other amazing shirts with fabulous sleeves! Go check them out!! (and they are all under $100)
