If It's Meant to be, It's Meant to be

One of the most important lessons I learned from my college application process, that if it's meant to be it's meant to be. Thing happen for a reason and in the end it all works out!
It is hard to see it now, but in the end it will all work out and you will go to whatever college you are suppose to go to, you will date whatever guy you are suppose to, and you will end up where you are meant to be!
That's my five cents...

Here is my very layered and cozy outfit for school today.
It was super chilly this morning, like low 30s. I love wearing this sweater with a chambray shirt under it, it's so cute. And it's totally springy because of the color of the sweater and my white pants! And let me tell you these Gap high waisted skinny jeans are actually high waisted on me! They are in tall and they are the perfect length for me (I am 5'9") and they actually come close to my belly button, where as most "high waisted" jeans, at least for us tall girls, don't come any where close to our belly buttons! And my mom who is even taller than me, swears by these jeans also!
I am obsessed with how the chambray shirt pops out at the bottom of my sweater and at the neck. It is so chic and looks so pulled together!
The pearls and the bow detailing add to the preppy look, and as my guidance counselor said, I will be a perfect little southern belle down in North Carolina next year for college! She thinks I will fit right into the Wake Forest community because of how preppy I already am! lol

I am so happy and excited to announce that I am going to college!!!
I always knew I was going to college but it was just a matter of which one! And I am so excited that I am going to my first choice school, Wake Forest University!

I fell in love with Wake Forest when I interviewed there at the end of August last year. I only told my closest friends and family that I was applying to WF and all my other friends came to know my top choice school as my "ED school," or my Early Decision school.  I was unfortunately  deferred  to the regular decision from Wake Forest in December, meaning that my application would be reviewed again in March and then I would be notified if I got in in March. I was really upset in December because I just wanted to get in to WF so badly. When I got deferred I knew I had to apply to more schools. In total I applied to 7, and out of the 7 I got into 4 of them.

Starting in January I started to hear back from schools. I got into all my safety schools as of last Friday and the last school I had to hear back from was Wake. I was really upset Thursday and Friday because I didn't get into my second choice school and my third choice was one of my safeties. I was so upset that I did A LOT of retail therapy (many cute new outfits to come!!) and I just kinda accepted that  I would be attending my third choice school. Not that it is a bad school and I probably would have been very happy there but it just wasn't Wake. I was frustrated thinking that I would have to go to one of my safety schools even though I practically killed myself for the past three and a half years getting all A's and being in so many honor societies and doing so many extra circular activities.

On Saturday morning after not being able to sleep for the past week, I woke up at 8 am, which is EXTREMELY early for me, especially on a Saturday and on vacation, and I played on my phone and I was like let me just look at the WF Facebook group... So I did for an hour or so and then went downstairs for breakfast. After breakfast, I will still pretty depressed so I continued to play on my phone in bed, and then the mail came. I knew I would have to hear from Wake before April 1st it was just a matter of when, and at this point I was expecting the worst.
My dad yells up the stairs, "Elisabeth, I have to talk to you..." and I literally said, "Oh great what did I do now..." And I open my door and I see my dad standing at the top of the stairs with a big black envelop in his hand. I turn it over and in the window box it says "Dear Elisabeth, Congratulations!" And I lost it! I ripped open the envelope and cried. I grabbed my parents and hugged them. I was crying and sweating and so over whelmed. But it was the best feeling ever! I laid the acceptance letter out on my bed and just starred at it. My dad later told me that he almost threw it out because the envelope was so skinny and he thought it was junk mail. I was in such disbelief and I am still in disbelief. I called all my family and friends right away and they were all so happy for me! I continued to cry all day! I cannot believe that I am going to my #1 choice school!! Later Saturday afternoon, I made it Facebook official and posted it as my status and the likes and sweetest comments from friends, family and people I don't even like came rolling in.
So today I wore my Wake Forest shirt to school to "announce" to everyone that I am a Demon Deacon and a proud part of the Wake Forest class of 2020!!!

Hoppy Easter!!

Hoppy Easter!!
Get it? Lol hoppy...
I went up to my aunt's house for Easter lunch today and it was really nice.
We had lots of the traditional Italian Easter pies! The meat and cheese one is my favorite!!
I am in happier or should I say in hoppier spirits then I was the other day! Thank you for everyone's warm wishes and love! (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go read my last post about rejection here.) I will tell you why I am wayyyy happier a little later, but everything is working out just wonderfully!! :) And of course the major retail therapy that I did on Friday didn't hurt either. You can go see a sneak peak of what I bought on my Instagram.

I also have been a little MIA from Tall and Preppy because I have been on my spring break. I had Holy Thursday, Good Friday and then I have Easter Monday off, so 5 days and then in April I have a week off for Passover. So I get two spring breaks this year!!

Here is my very pastel outfit for Easter Sunday! My brother is also looking super pastel and springy, he would be even more springy if he was wearing his yellow Vineyard Vines pants... but whatever! I love the color of this jacket and the peplum! So pretty for spring!! And now it is totally appropriate to wear white jeans again!
I also wore this same outfit to last night's Easter vigil mass. It was a good 2 hour mass but was very nice. I guess that makes up for all the masses I have missed! Ooops.

I look happy in these pictures when these were taken yesterday because I was a tad bit happier than I am today.
On Tuesday night, I had my last spring concert and I surprised my parents by singing a solo. They were really surprised. I also didn't know the words to the solo very well so I had to put my music on a music stand in front of the mic and then funny story, I looked up from the music for 5 seconds to look at the audience and I lost my place and didn't know the words....Good job Elisabeth!!

Today, I am a little upset because I was rejected from my #2 school. I have already been accepted into 2 schools, and I wouldn't mind going to those schools but they are not my top picks. But this is my 3rd rejection letter and this one really upset me. I really liked the school and I thought I was going to get in because I showed a lot of interest and they came to my school looking for students. The first school I got rejected from in January I just kind of laughed it off because I didn't want to go there anyway. My second rejection hurt a little bit but I just kinda shrugged my shoulders. But this one today really hurt. I must have cried for an hour. When I told Giorgia she called me right away and stayed on the phone with me for over an hour. I love you Georgy!
I know everything happens for a reason but it's easier said then understood when you get rejected from your 2nd choice school.
I think I was also really upset because I am finally realizing that I am graduating and that I am leaving high school and going to an unfamiliar place very soon. It also made me realize that maybe I am meant to go to one of the schools I got into or maybe I am meant to go to my #1 choice, which I am still waiting to hear from. The future is really scary and I think I was upset more about the lack of control in my future and not necessarily that I did't get into my #2 choice.

Oh a lighter note, here is a really preppy and springy outfit!
I love wearing layers during the transitioning of seasons.
This is one of my favorite shirts! I have it in like 4 colors! It is so light weight and super soft.
This blouse looks great with my navy blue vest but also will look great with white jeans and Jack Rogers!

Necklace: sterling silver monogrammed pendant (similar)
Belt: skinny sparkly silver belt (similar)

It Snowed???

Happy first day of spring!
And guess what happened today? It snowed!!!
I woke up to snow on the ground! What? I know, crazy!
I had a very exciting day today!

I was interviewed for a foreign language award that I was nominated for. One question that the foreign language teachers asked me was did I take French?
My answer was that I took French because my favorite childhood book was Madeleine and that I was promised for my 16th birthday to go to Paris! I wanted to be able to speak French when I went to Paris. Well that wish came true and I was able to speak a decent amount of French, or FrAgnlish as I call it- French and English combined, when I went to Paris! I of course want to continue to study French in college so I can study abroad in France.

Also, tonight there was a Broadway benefit concert. Where 22 Broadway stars came to my school and performed songs from either shows they have been in or some of their favorite Broadway show tunes! The music was amazing, and I have to say I am a little envious of their voices. Erin and I were literally the only ones in the auditorium under the age of 50, minus some of the performers like the girl who plays Annie or Matilda on Broadway, but besides that, we were the youngest ones! It was pretty funny, but totally worth the awkwardness!

Because it was 35 degrees this morning, and I refuse to wear boots and a winter coat I opted for a wool sweater instead, in a springy color! This is another perfect transition outfit from winter to spring! Cozy but not too warm.

He said YES!

Guess who has a date to prom??
My dress came back from the dry cleaners on Thursday night so it was just hanging on my closet door so I knew I couldn't keep looking at my dress without asking this boy to prom. He told my friend in February that he wanted to ask me to prom, but he is very shy so I decided I couldn't wait any longer and just had to do it!
I tried to do it at the end of math class but I was too nervous to do it so I just texted him.
And this is how it went:
Me: So when are we going to hang out?
Him: I don't know
Me: Hmm let me think... What about April 16? Are you free?
Him: Yeah sounds good! Where do you wanna go?
Me: Well April 16th kinda requires a tux...
Him: Really now? Sounds fancy
Me: Yeah it kind of is...It's this thing called prom, idk if u've heard of it before....
Him: Yea!!!!That sounds awesome!!!!!!!!

So yeah! I have a date to prom and we are both so excited! I later made a joke about if he felt honored that he is my date and he said he was, which is really cute and sweet!
All my friends were so excited and happy that I actually asked him! But honestly, I didn't feel any different after I asked him. We both kinda knew we were going together it was just a matter of who was going to ask who and when!
My brother told me to wait for him to ask me, my friends told me to do a big "proposal" thing and I just decided to text him! I did it my way and I don't regret not listening to my brother or my friends... sorry guys!
I have to say after waking up this morning, it has sunk in that I am going to prom with him and I am super super excited!!!

Here are some photos of my outfit from yesterday which was a very causal outfit, very different from what I normally wear to school!
I am wearing a t-shirt! Shocker I know! But it's a J Crew t-shirt sooooo lol. ( And yes, it has elephants on it)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
They say that everyone is Irish on Saint Patrick's Day, but today I wasn't, sorry!
Pretty much every senior in the entire world cut school today to go to the Saint Patty's Day parade in NYC, I decided to skip out on that one. Justine, Michelle, Giorgia and I had no desire to get smashed, trashed and creamed, or in plain terminology: drunk, so instead we went out to the movies tonight!
We saw Allegiant (and then got ice cream) and it was good if you never read the books but I was not a big fan. I didn't think it matched the other two movies and it didn't follow the book at all. It was kind disappointing. But hey the ice cream was good!
Senioritis is a real thing and I think it is hitting me hard. I have little to no motivation to do work anymore. And like we went to the movies on a school night, if that doesn't scream senioritis to you it sure does to me! I never would have gone to the movies on a school night any other year but this year!

Boyfriend Jeans

You don't need to have a boyfriend just to wear boyfriend jeans!

My schedule has not slowed down one bit! I went straight from play rehearsal and putting on a show to badminton practice!
Badminton is so much fun and a great cardio workout, but I'm kinda lonely because none of my friends who were on the team last year came back. (*cough Sophia *cough)
Because of badminton practice being after school, I never get to see Michelle anymore :(. We used to catch up everyday after school on our ride home but now I just see her for a little bit in the mornings before school, where she just kinda nags me to ask that boy to prom already....( Love you Mitch!)
But tomorrow night Michelle, Justine, Giorgia and I have some fun things planned, and you are just going to have to wait and see what we are doing tomorrow night!

Now onto my outfit!
A very different look for me today! Michelle thought I looked super casual, but I don't think this look is casual at all! I think it is super chic and fashionable!
The boyfriend jeans tone down the loudness of the shirt. My accessories are what keeps the outfit from looking too casual!

Haircut from Hell?

Two weeks ago I got my looked gorgeous when it was all blown out and everything but the minute I washed my hair and let it air dry it didn't look so good. I always ask for my hair to be layered and angled. The hairdresser gave me layers, but they were uneven! My friends literally looked at the back of my head and were like your hair isn't even in the back. It was so embarrassing.
And because I had the show last week and crazy rehearsals, I didn't get to get it fixed until Saturday.
And today was when everyone noticed that I got it cut (for the second time)
It's a little short for my liking but my hair grows out super quick and I wanted to be able to grow it out a little bit before prom, without having super split ends.
And no, I am still waiting for that guy to ask me to prom. I know I am a strong, independent woman who doesn't need a man, and I would normally just ask him but for once I am going to listen to my brother, because he thinks that if I ask this guy to prom, even though he said he was going to ask me, I would kill his confidence and his vibe. So I am going to listen to Peter and wait for him to ask me.
I am such a control freak and very impatient that it is really hard for me to just sit back and wait for him to ask me. But we are moving in the right direction because my friend talked to him today and he says that he wants to do something nice but that I should just bring up the subject of prom to him so it isn't awkward. Which I personally think makes it even more awkward because he knows that I know that he's planning on asking me to prom, and I know that he knows. (If that makes any sense)

I literally don't have any pants that are clean because both of our cesspools had to be pumped the other day so we are seriously backed up on wash, so I'm wearing my favorite sweater with my straight legged jeans. The burgundy in my shoes blends with my sweater because burgundy and pink go together and my shoes just add something different to the outfit!

Sweater: J Crew weenier dog sweater (similar idea)
Shoes: Vince Camuto burgundy ballet flats (similar)
