Ins & Outs of 2024

Instead of yearly goals this year, I am sharing my ins and outs for 2024. I can’t take credit for this idea, as it was all over social media, but I think it’s a great one!

In:

• “Focus” mode on phone during work

• Impulse shopping or buying something just because it’s on sale (let it sit in my cart for 24-48 hours before purchasing)

Five Friday Favorites | 65 | Islanders Game, Dinner Parties, Gold Hoops, Work Bag & Wedding Etiquette

 1.          Islanders Game at UBS Arena- I recently went to my first Islanders game at UBS Arena. I think hockey is such a fun sport to watch. This arena is absolutely stunning. It’s brand new. The food was really good (expensive) but good. I took the train from Grand Central Station in Manhattan. The commute was easy. I sat in the nose bleeds. I really don’t think there’s a bad seat in the place. 

2.          Dinner parties- Over MLK Day weekend, I hosted my friends from law school at my house for a dinner party. It was a ton of work, but it was a really enjoyable evening. There’s something nice about cooking a meal for your friends and gathering around the table to share stories and laugh. 

3.          Raemi earrings- These are my favorite hoops. I wear them all the time. Such a cute gift for Valentine’s Day coming up.

4.          Mark and Graham bag- I asked for this new bag for Christmas and I am pleasantly surprised. I took it to court with me last week and it worked out well. I like that it has zipped pockets for a laptop or tablet, but also open pockets with snaps perfect for a legal pad and files. It fits a water bottle and even a change of shoes. I really like that the leather is soft and flexible (without being too flexible) so I can fit a lot in it. The shoulder strap is also very handy. 

5.          What Do I Do?- My sweet friend Mariah wrote this incredible book all about wedding etiquette. I got to go to her book launch party last week. We had such a fun evening. This is a great gift for any friend that recently got engaged! Congratulations Mariah!

Five Friday Favorites | 64 | Fun Group Dinner Spot with Live Music and Dancing, Workout Clothes Sale, French Brand I LOVE, No Spend January & More

1.          Puglia - This is probably the most fun restaurant in NYC! Live music, (decent) Italian food, bottomless wine and DANCING! We stood on our chairs and whirled our napkins and danced for hours! This restaurant is so fun when you have friends in town and you want to have a good time! We couldn’t stop singing, dancing and laughing. Highly recommend for the vibes!

2.          YPB SALE on LTK App- Another repeat favorite, but my favorite athletic clothes brand is on sale starting today only on the LiketoKnow.it App. I wrote a whole post about my favorite pieces from the brand. Check it out HERE! And feel free to shop HERE!

3.          Sézane - This beautiful French brand is taking NYC by storm. I went to one of the stores in Paris but didn’t purchase anything. The store on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan is beautiful. I received some of the Sézane sweaters for Christmas and fell in love. I totally understand the hype. The sweaters are beautifully made. The quality really is excellent. I’m a really big fan of this brand and the sweaters I own. I’m looking forward to growing my collection.

4.          Solidcore- I know I’ve shared this workout class as a favorite before, but I just hit 50 classes and I feel so incredibly strong. I don’t think I give myself enough credit into how strong I really am! It’s such a tough workout, but it’s really the best. 

5.          No spend January- I have been working for a couple months now and I feel like I’ve figured out my budget. The holidays are over so I’m determined to not spend any money on clothes or accessories this month. I have SO much stuff. Overconsumption is a real thing. My closet is really overflowing. I don’t have an urge to shop for new clothes this month (so far) and I’m staying strong! Will you be joining me on this challenge?

Christmas and New Year’s Eve in NYC RECAP

Happy 2024! Let’s recap the holidays together.

Annual Christmas Dinner with Michelle and Giorgia

On Friday before Christmas, I met up with Michelle and Giorgia for our annual holiday dinner. We started this tradition when we were in high school (I think 9^th or 10^th grade). Every year we pick a restaurant, catch up and see the Rockefeller tree. I started this tradition because my dad and his friends from his younger days used to go out to eat every holiday season to reconnect.

This year, the girls and I went to Old Fashion Café in SoHo. It was a tiny restaurant. It was surprisingly empty, despite finding it on TikTok, as everyone raving about it. The food was good. We shared small plates. I don’t think I would go back. We also skipped out on the tree this year because I went at the beginning of December and it was insanely packed. Maybe next year!

Christmas Eve

My family and I went up to Connecticut for lunch with my aunt. It was really nice for most of my siblings and their families to get together for Christmas Eve lunch. We did our annual Secret Santa gift swap amongst the adults.

We then headed home to Long Island for Christmas Eve mass.

 

Christmas Day

Christmas is my favorite holiday.

It’s so fun to run down the stairs and see what Santa brought and put under the tree! 

My parents, twin brother and I sat around the tree in our pjs and unwrapped our gifts. 

The most thoughtful gift I received was a set of metal utensils for my desk, so I don’t have to bring a set from the kitchen when I bring my lunch to work. The coolest gift I received was a vintage Burberry Prorsum trench coat from The Real Real. It came in a dust bag. It is in pristine condition. Vintage isn’t the right word for it, because it looks like it was never worn. The collar and sleeves aren’t marked, like they usually are on a well-loved coat. It was the deal of the century. Santa did well!

 

New Year’s Eve Weekend

 

Friday

My friends and I celebrated a birthday to kick off the holiday weekend. We went to Puglia in Little Italy and had the best time. Live music, bottomless wine and dancing on tables!!! Great vibes all around.

 

Saturday

I met up with an old college friend, Emily, and got to meet her boyfriend at Refinery Rooftop in midtown before her and I went to see the Rockettes at Radio City. There is so much magic and joy in this show. I used to go every holiday season when I was little. The Rockettes are incredible.

 

Sunday

New Year’s Eve was on a Sunday this year. We started the morning with at-home brunch. I decorated the boy’s apartment with gold stars. We got all dressed up, ordered in pizza and got ready to ring in the new year. 

We had tickets to Ms. Yoo on the Lower East Side for a New Year’s Eve party. Our tickets were about $100 when we bought them in November for an open bar from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. It was a really nice venue serving good liquor and good music. We had a lot of fun. It was so nice for all of us to get dressed up and go dancing. We go out quite a bit, but we never get to wear fancy clothes, so I loved it.  

I surprisingly have never been out in NYC for New Years. I heard mixed reviews from many people, but personally, my friends and I had a really good time. I loved ringing in the new year with my friends in my favorite city!

Five Friday Favorites | 63 | Chocolate Chip Cookies, Jonas Brothers, Kappa Delta Alumnae Group, Wine Bar & More

 1.          Chip City- The debate in my boyfriend’s apartment with his roommates and our friends is which chocolate chip cookie is better: Chip City or Levain. They just opened a new Chip City location by the boy’s apartment so we went and did a taste test. Personally, I think Levain is gooier. But others prefer a cookie that is a bit more stiff, like Chip City. Both are great! Depends on what you like. 

2.          Jonas Brothers concert- This was my third Jonas Brothers concert. I totally forgot it was my third one. The concert was at the Barclays Center. I had never been to that location before. It was really fun. The Joe Bros are always my favs. This was their last concert of 2023. They played songs from all 5 albums. To be honest, they played a lot of obscure songs, that I didn’t know, and clearly made me look like a fake fan, despite my t-shirt with their faces on it… oops. The concert was also really long. The boys went on around 8:15 and the show ended after 11. I was surprised by how long it was. There were two guest appearances, one being Jack Black. As for my homework, I need to go listen to their original songs, so when they go back for their 20-year (!!!) reunion tour in 2025, I will know every single word. 

3.          Kappa Delta NYC alumnae group- I had the best sorority experience in college and I love my KD gals, and they love T&P! I recently went to my first KD alumni chapter event in Manhattan after work. It was incredible talking to sorority sisters from other chapters and hearing about their college and sorority experiences and how similar they were to mine. I met a really great group of girls and I’m really excited to have some new friends in the city. I’ve been to two events so far. It’s so hard making friends as an adult who is working full time, so I highly recommend joining an alumni group from your college, sorority or another group you were involved in in college or high school to find like-minded individuals with similar values. 

4.          Pierre Loti wine bar- This is such a cute spot for happy hour with girlfriends or for a date. I went on a Monday night and it was hopping!

5.          Focus setting on iPhone - I choose to only get notifications when focus is on from text messages, everything else like Instagram, TikTok, email, etc. is silenced. It helps me focus so much more and get my work done more efficiently.
