Top 20 Purchases of 2020

One of the positives of 2020 is that I’ve made some really good purchases! Ha!

(This post may contain affiliate links).

1.          White Tennis Shoes. I finally hopped on the band wagon and bought a white pair of sneaks.

2.          Mockneck Cashmere Sweater. I love a good turtleneck, but a mockneck is a less grandma version.

3.          Red Tory Burch Flats. The last color I needed to really have a complete shoe collection.

4.          Gal Meets Glam Faux Fur Coat. I’ve always wanted a faux fur coat and this one is stunning! Bought it on final sale for $60! I sized up to a medium.

5.          Tarte CC Under Eye Concealer. It doesn’t matter how long I sleep, I still have horrible dark circles under my eyes. But I finally found a product that color corrects and helps reduce the look of my dark circles.

6.          Wake Skincare Eye Gel. This is the best eye gel! It is cooling and wakes you up and also reduces the wrinkles under your eyes.

7.  Etsy Straw Bag. Another great purchase of 2020! I love this little bag! I got so many compliments on it this summer!

8.          ASOS Straw Hat. I wore this hat all over spring break. It looks more sophisticated than a floppy hat in my opinion.

9.          Target Bikini. Target has some great bikinis! Check them out! I really need bikini tops with underwire and this year Aerie wasn’t cutting it. So I’m really glad I found this one!

10.          Fun pants! This year I was really into fun colored and printed pants. I started with a wide leg purple pair from Rent the Runway, and then I went to straight leg cropped white jeans from J.Crew Factory. I then added a pair of cheetah linen pants to my collection (which are SO FUN) (similar style linked HERE)! I also bought a pair of cropped flared cords in a beautiful chestnut color. I also bought a pair of navy velvet pants and they feel like pjs. And I caved and bought the Spanx faux leather leggings! Jeans are boring after a while!

11.          Louis Vuitton Never Full Tote. My college graduation present from my parents! I got the biggest size because I wanted to use it for school and traveling. Such a classic bag. I even added my initials to the strap in a hot stamp in gold foil, complimentary to the purchase.

12.          Chicwish Anything. Everything that I have ever been sent from Chicwish, I am IN LOVE WITH! They have the best summer dresses and sweaters. They’re clothes are very preppy, girly and elegant and I’m obsessed. I cannot say enough good things about Chicwish.

13.          T.Marie Designs Earrings. The most beautiful small business! I am in love with all of her designs. Shop small! I wear her earrings at least three times a week!

14.          J.Crew Masks. I hope I will never have to wear them ever again after this is all over, but for the time being: J.Crew makes the most comfortable and stylish masks out there! Can’t believe I’m even writing that! Ha! But it’s true.

15.          Good Molecules Skincare. Niacinamide serum is my holy grail skincare item! It is the first product I put on my skin every morning and every night after I take my makeup off. It closes all your pores and stops gunk and dirt from getting in them.

16.          Ugg Snow Boots. Talk about warm and cute!

17.          Puff Sleeve Anything. If it has a puff sleeve, it’s in my shopping cart. I think Banana Republic makes the best puff sleeves.

18.          Abercrombie High Waisted Linen Shorts. Abercrombie has made a comeback! I love their high waisted shorts. They’re very elegant and retro.

19.          Midi Skirts or Midi Dresses. Chicwish makes some great ones. So does J.Crew. I’ve really embraced my inner grand millennial and am loving all the lady like dresses and skirts.

20.          Headbands. Headbands have made a comeback in my wardrobe. I love my pearl ones from Amazon and the ones I have from Anthropologie.

Why you Need Friends in Law School and Why you Need these J.Crew Velvet Pants

My friend Alex and I joked that when we came to law school, we each had no intentions of making friends. I knew making friends would be nice, but it wasn’t a goal of mine. And then I sat right in front of Alex in class, and that was it. My first friend in law school.

I met Chloe via Groupme before classes started because we both went to school in NC.

Trish sat next to me.

Emma and Nicole sat behind Alex and I.

Arianna came to my beach picnic.

The rest is history!

We also have the same goals and similar work ethics. Our goals are to: get through law school, be successful and work hard.

Fun fact: we all have different astrological signs, if you are into that.

We laugh about how we became friends! We became friends really fast.

We all sat near each and sat in the same seats every day (because of Covid) and had no choice but to socialize with those around us. A couple of us worked on a group project and got to know each other better.

And then we started studying together. When studying together, I learned so much about them but also about how to be a better student. We collaborated on outlines. We shared ideas and asked stupid questions. We all grew together and learned so much this semester. I wouldn’t have succeeded as well as I did this semester without them. We shared memories from class, funny memories of the kids falling asleep on Zoom and stressful memories. There really is company in misery.

Whenever I needed something, or had a question, someone was there to give me confidence or advice.

These girls gave me something to look forward to every morning when waking up at the crack of dawn to drive to my 8am class.

We became academic friends really fast, because we saw how similar our goals in school were but also, we realized that we all loved to be social and have fun. Law school can be fun!

I planned Trish’s birthday dinner. We celebrated Oktoberfest with the boyfriends. We had weekly study sessions on Monday night before the Bachelorette, and we recently celebrated Secret Santa.

It is crazy that I went into law school not planning on meeting any friends, and now I have six beautiful friends that are the smartest and most hard-working women I know.

We are all so similar and get along so beautifully, it is crazy that we all ended up together.

Apparently, something turned out right in 2020.

And I am proud to say that we all did well on our finals. I wouldn’t have done as well if I didn’t have these strong ladies by my side.

Hopefully I convinced you that having friends in law school makes everything better. I’m lucky that I made friends by chance, but I’m sure that doesn’t happen to everyone.

If you are thinking about going to law school, or already accepted, please go into law school with plans about making friends!

I promise, law school will be so much better if you have people to laugh with and cry with.

The Best Instagram Spots in New York City During the Holiday Season

Yesterday we played tourist in NYC and found the two best Instagram spots for the holiday season.

These spots weren’t too crowded and got us the perfect holiday shots!

1.     Cartier Building (5th Avenue and 52nd Street).

2.     Lotte New York Palace Hotel (Madison Avenue between E 49th and E 50th Street)

Commonly known as the famous hotel where the van der Woodsen’s live in Gossip Girl.

In the past, I have shot some beautiful photos as:

3.     Rockefeller Tree (5th Avenue between W 49th and W 50th Street)

But personally, I find it too busy for a good photo.

4.     The New York Public Library (5th Avenue between W 40th and W 42nd Street)

5.     Bryant Park (6th Avenue between W 40th and W 42nd Street)

Another super busy photo spot.

6.     Central Park at the Bow Bridge

7.     The Met (5th Avenue between E 80th and E 84th Street)

8.     The Flat Iron Building (5th Avenue between E 22nd and E 23rd Street)
